Project Controls Specialist

Summary:

EMC is seeking a qualified Project Control Specialist to join our team, who will report to the Program Manager for our Kincardine/Bruce Site location. Under minimal supervision, this position performs project control activities that manage, control, and report on costs. Collects and reports on performance data, identifies and tracks all changes to the project scope and provides cost analysis. Responsible for financial management of the project including assisting with budget creation, WBS Development, invoicing and tracking of milestones.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes methods/procedures for the project control activates of cost analysis, scope control, trending and reporting.

  • Develops earned value analysis, project status reports and project financial reports for both managed task and brokered labour projects as requested.

  • Informs the project manager of project financial status, schedule status, identifies potential problems and recommends a resolution; escalating prolonged issues to appropriate senior managers

  • Provides financial management of the project, that includes assisting with the formation of work breakdown structures; budgets; tracking invoice milestone; review invoice charges and backup; forecast and monitor project cash flow.

  • Create, monitor and close project charge paths to align with projects’ scope of work and distribute to the project management team and field operations.

  • Monitors and corrects unposted or suspended man-hours in timekeeping system.

  • Assists with preparation of required documentation to establish change numbers, budgets, etc. in the Financial system.

  • Manage the change order process to mitigate additional scope and costs throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Ensure client project teams provide current, updated information, and direction on projects.

Job Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent education and/or related experience in lieu of degree,

  • 2-4 years of related work experience is preferred.

  • Experience with Sage Construction 300 (Formerly Sage Timberline) and Crystal Reports is an asset

  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to meet deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed financial data.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to interact positively with all levels inside and outside the organization

  • Strong computer skills in all Microsoft suite platforms

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
